Best for
Completing an interactive PDF form without a desktop PDF application.
Main limitation
Only fields the document really declares can be filled. A scanned form with no field definitions has nothing to fill — use the PDF editor instead.

How to use this tool

  1. Upload a PDF that contains form fields.
  2. Fill in the fields the tool finds — text boxes, checkboxes and dropdowns.
  3. Choose whether to keep the fields editable or flatten them.
  4. Download the completed form.

Why use iBuildPDF

Most "fill a PDF online" tools just let you type a floating text box roughly where a field is. This one reads the fields the document actually declares, so the values land in the right place, print correctly, and are readable by whoever processes the form.

How it works

The form definition inside the PDF is read and each field is rendered as a matching input. On save, the values are written back into those same fields — optionally flattened so they cannot be changed.

Frequently asked questions

It says my PDF has no form fields.

Then it is a document that looks like a form rather than a form — very common with scanned or printed-to-PDF documents. Use the PDF editor to place text where you need it instead.

Are my answers sent anywhere?

No. The form, your answers and the finished file all stay in your browser. That is the whole reason to fill a tax or medical form here rather than on a site that uploads it.

Why do the fields have strange names?

Because what is shown is the name the document gives each field internally, and form designers name them things like f1_09. A PDF field can carry a friendlier name alongside the internal one, but most forms never set it, and the printed label you can see next to the box is just text drawn on the page — it is not attached to the field at all. Open the PDF alongside to match them up.

Can I sign the form here?

No. Signature fields are deliberately skipped, because nothing this tool could put in one would be a real signature. Buttons are skipped for the same kind of reason — there is no value to fill in. Use Sign PDF to draw or type a signature onto the page, and flatten the result afterwards.

Should I lock the answers before sending the form?

Lock them if the person receiving it should not be able to change anything. Leave them unlocked if you may need to correct something — the saved file still has real fields, so you can open it here again and carry on.

Are answers already in the file kept?

Yes. Anything already filled in is read out of the document and shown in the matching box, so a part-completed form can be picked up where someone else left it rather than started again.
