Best for
Page images where sharp edges matter more than file size, such as diagrams and screenshots.
Main limitation
PNG is lossless, so page images are considerably larger than the JPG equivalent.

How to use this tool

  1. Upload your PDF.
  2. Choose the resolution.
  3. Download individual pages, or all of them as a ZIP.

Why use iBuildPDF

PNG is the right choice when the page is a diagram, a chart or screenshot-like content with sharp edges — JPG compression puts visible halos around crisp lines, and PNG does not.

How it works

Each page is rendered at your chosen scale and written as a PNG. The ZIP is assembled in your browser, so even packaging the results never involves a server.

Frequently asked questions

PNG or JPG — which should I pick?

PNG for diagrams, charts, screenshots and anything with sharp text edges. JPG for photographs and scans, where the files are far smaller and the difference is invisible.

Why are the files so big?

PNG is lossless, so a full-page render is genuinely large. Lower the resolution, or use PDF to JPG if size matters more than sharpness.

What resolution do the quality settings actually give?

High quality renders at twice the page's natural size, which works out at 144 dots per inch for any page size. Balanced is about 108 and Smaller files about 72. Two limits then cap very large pages: 4096 pixels on the longest side, and about 16 million pixels in total — so a wide, short page can be scaled down by the second limit while still under the first. Both exist to keep the render inside what a browser tab can hold.

Can I take one page instead of all of them?

Yes. Every page gets its own download button underneath the main one, so you can take page seven and ignore the rest. The combined ZIP is only built if you ask for it.

Does the text come out as text?

No. A PNG is a picture of the page, so the text becomes pixels and can no longer be selected, searched or copied. If the words are what you are after, extract the text or convert to Word instead.

Why is it slow, and can I stop it?

Each page is rendered one at a time by your own device, and rendering is the expensive part — a 200-page document at high quality is a lot of work for a phone. The progress panel has a cancel button, and dropping to Balanced usually finishes comfortably.

Do the PNGs have a transparent background?

No. Pages are rendered onto a white background, so the result is opaque. PNG is offered here for its lossless compression and clean edges, not for transparency.
