Why use iBuildPDF
Scanners insert blank pages. Bank statements come with three pages of boilerplate. Removing them should not require installing anything or handing the document to a stranger.
How it works
The pages you keep are copied into a new document in their original order. The removed pages are simply not copied — there is no re-rendering, so nothing else about the file changes.
Frequently asked questions
Can I remove every other page?
You can list them — 2, 4, 6, 8 — and the tool accepts as many entries as you need. There is no odd/even shortcut yet.
What if I remove every page?
The tool stops you. A PDF with no pages is not a valid file, and most viewers will report it as corrupt rather than empty.
I do not know the page numbers — can I work visually?
Not in this tool, which works from numbers you type. Organize PDF Pages shows every page as a thumbnail and lets you mark pages for removal by eye, which is the better route for a scan full of blank sheets you have not counted.
Does deleting pages make the file smaller?
Usually, roughly in proportion to what came out, because the deleted pages are never copied into the new document. Shared resources such as embedded fonts are carried over once, so a file rarely shrinks by exactly the percentage of pages you dropped.
Are the removed pages really gone, or only hidden?
Gone. The pages you keep are copied into a brand new document and the rest are never written, so there is no leftover object for anyone to recover. Deleting pages in place, which is what many editors do, leaves them in the file.
Do links and bookmarks still work afterwards?
Links to web addresses survive. Bookmarks and internal links that point at a specific page may not, because that page has either moved or is no longer in the document. Check the contents page of a long report before sending it on.
Can I do this to several PDFs at once?
No — one file at a time. If the same pages have to come out of a batch of documents, each one is a separate pass.
