Why use iBuildPDF
Reordering pages in a desktop PDF app usually means paying for it. Doing it in a browser usually means uploading a document you may not be allowed to upload. This does neither: the file is read by your own browser and the rearranged copy is written there too.
How it works
Pages are copied into a new document in your chosen order, not re-rendered. Text stays selectable, images keep their original resolution, and the file size stays roughly the same as the original.
Frequently asked questions
Does rearranging pages reduce quality?
No. The page objects are copied across unchanged — this is not a re-render, so nothing is recompressed.
How many pages can it handle?
Thumbnails are generated for up to 200 pages, which covers nearly every document people reorder by hand. Past that the pages are all still there and still work; they just appear as numbered tiles with no picture on them.
Do links and bookmarks survive?
Links that point to a web address survive. Internal links and bookmarks that point to a specific page may not, because the page they pointed at has moved — that is a limitation of copying pages between documents, and we would rather say so than let you find out later.
What happens past 200 pages?
The pages are all still there and can all be moved, rotated or removed — only the thumbnails stop, and the pages beyond that point appear as numbered tiles instead. If you are working by eye rather than by number, split the document first.
Can I undo removing a page?
Yes, until you save. The remove button marks a page as dropped and marks it back again if you press it a second time, so nothing is lost while you are still arranging. Saving a document with every page removed is refused.
How does the rotate button treat a page that is already rotated?
It adds a quarter turn clockwise to whatever rotation the page already carried, rather than replacing it. So a page stored sideways is turned a further 90 degrees from where it was: a page stored at 90 ends at 180, not back at upright. Go by the thumbnail — it shows the page as it will come out, existing rotation included — and click until it looks right.
