This adds new text, images and markup on top of your PDF. It does not rewrite or reflow the document's existing text — for that, convert to Word, edit there, and convert back.

Quick facts
- What it does
- Draws new text and images on top of an existing PDF page, without changing the text already in the document.
- Input
- Output
- Processing
- In your browser
- Files uploaded?
- No
- Account required?
- No
- Best for
- Filling in a form that has no form fields, or annotating a document before returning it.
- Main limitation
- It adds content rather than editing what is there, and it works one page at a time — the elements you place apply to the page you are on. Added text is drawn into the page as an image, so it is not selectable or searchable afterwards.
How to use this tool
- Upload your PDF.
- Add a text box or an image anywhere on the page.
- Drag each element into position.
- Click "Save PDF" and download.
Why use iBuildPDF
Every edit is applied locally in your browser — your document is never uploaded.
How it works
New elements are drawn onto the page as a new layer on top of the original content, then flattened into the saved PDF.
Frequently asked questions
Can I edit the PDF's existing text?
Not yet — this tool adds new content on top of the page rather than rewriting existing text. See the notice above for a workaround.
Is the text I add selectable or searchable afterwards?
No. Each piece of text is drawn as a small image and placed on the page, so it looks right and prints right but cannot be selected, searched or copied. If the words need to be real text, fill the document's form fields instead, or write them before the file becomes a PDF.
Can I add things to several pages in one pass?
Not in a single save. What you place belongs to the page you have open, and changing page clears it, so each page is its own round of adding, positioning and saving. Save the first page, open the result again, and carry on from there.
Which image formats can I place on a page?
PNG and JPEG. HEIC photos from an iPhone have to be converted first. The image keeps its own proportions and is placed at a set width that you can drag around the page but not stretch or scale.
Can I delete or cover up something already on the page?
The editor only adds. You can place a white image over something to hide it, but that is cosmetic — the text underneath is still in the file and still selectable by anyone who tries. To take words out properly, use Redact PDF.
Why is the file larger after editing?
Because every element is stored as an image inside the PDF, and an image costs more bytes than a line of text. A few text boxes add very little; a full-page photograph adds its own size. Run the result through Compress PDF if that matters.
Is my document uploaded while I work on it?
No. The file is opened by your browser, rendered on your own screen and written back to your downloads folder. Nothing leaves the tab, including the images you add.
