- Best for
- Correcting sideways or upside-down pages from a scanner or phone camera.
- Main limitation
- Rotation is recorded as a page property, so a viewer that ignores it will still show the original orientation.
How to use this tool
- Upload your PDF.
- Choose the angle. It applies to every page in the document.
- Click "Rotate PDF".
- Download the corrected file.
Why use iBuildPDF
Rotation is applied locally in your browser — your file is never uploaded.
How it works
Each page's rotation metadata is updated directly; the underlying page content is untouched.
Frequently asked questions
Does rotating lose any quality?
No — rotation changes how a page is displayed, not its content.
Is the rotation permanent?
Yes, and that is the point. Most PDF readers let you rotate the view on screen, but it resets when you reopen the file and everyone else still sees it sideways — which is why a document can look fine to you and wrong to the person you sent it to. This changes the page orientation stored in the file itself, so it is correct in any reader.
Can I rotate one page differently from the rest?
Not with this tool — the angle you choose is applied to every page in the document. For a file where only a few pages were scanned sideways, use Organize PDF Pages instead: it shows every page as a thumbnail and lets you rotate them individually before saving. That is the right tool for a mixed-orientation scan.
Does rotating change the file size or quality?
No. Rotation changes one orientation value per page and nothing else — no re-rendering, no recompression — so text stays sharp, images keep their resolution, and the file comes out essentially the same size as it went in. It is one of the genuinely lossless operations, unlike compression or converting to images.
My pages were already rotated and now they are wrong.
The angle you choose is added to the rotation each page already has rather than replacing it, so a page stored at 90 degrees turned by another 90 ends at 180. If a document holds pages at different angles, one turn applied to all of them cannot fix it — Organize PDF Pages rotates each page on its own.
Can I rotate by something other than 90, 180 or 270 degrees?
No, and no PDF tool can: a page's rotation is a property with four legal values, not a free angle. A scan that is a few degrees crooked can only be straightened by re-rendering the page, which costs the text layer, so this tool does not offer it.
